Today was a beautiful day!!! I love springtime. And even though it isn't officially here yet, the weather today gives a taste of the beauty and new beginnings that come with spring. We are planting fruit trees and preparing garden plots for planting. I am always excited about the garden at this time of year. Choosing what to plant, where to plant it....the smell of damp earth, the perfect green of new plants....I just wish this lasted all the way to harvest. Too soon, the beauty of it is replaced by the reality of it...weeding, bugs, wilted plants, blossom end rot, how much to water, when to water.... Until a few years ago, I had never gardened. I always assumed that to garden, you just planted a seed, watered it and then it would grow. That is how it always seemed to be for the people I had observed over the course of my life. I wasn't aware that you had to feed, weed, prune, water and beg, just to get the plant to not die... My plants last year, looked much better than the plants that first year, but they were still pretty sad. I am thankful that we do not have to exist on what I can grow!
This year we are planting with the intention of being able to put some back and give some away. It makes me a little apprehensive to have a specific goal for the garden and not just a "Let's wait and see what we get" attitude.
Heavenly Father, Please bless our garden to your glory.

Lisa,
You just described my gardening attitude. "Let's wait and see what we get". I pray the same thing for my berry patch that you are for your garden.
