"O.J.F.": Day 3

Today was another beautiful day! Who would believe that yesterday there were 3+ inches of snow on the ground! Everything looks even greener than it did before the snow. Our fruit trees seem to have weathered the cold just fine. I am going to plan on that being the last cold snap before spring takes hold. We have been busy with spring things around the house today...picking out chickens and ducks and planning their coops, planning the garden plot and what will get planted where....... and how to make the inside of the house look as fresh and new as it does outside, this time of year. I haven't come up with a good plan for that one yet, but I am working on it. The first step in gardening is to clear out all of the weeds and unwanted vegetation and prepare the soil to receive the seeds. So, inside the house I have been clearing out the "weeds" aka my JUNK. In 2 days, I have thrown away 30 items and I haven't been anywhere but the kitchen. Today, I chose more items from the kitchen...........2 old spiral notebooks (there were a few clean pages, but they went anyway...I feel so daring!) .......2 bottles of old nail polish (don't ask me why they were in the kitchen cabinet) ........1 roll of old film (OK, I'm not sure why that was in the cabinet either.)........ about 15 lids that didn't go to anything and 2 ratty looking pot holders. You know, I always accuse my husband of being a pack rat, but the evidence shows that I am just as much one as he is, I am just better at hiding it and my stuff is smaller. It is hard to inconspicuously hide electrical components and power tools in the kitchen cabinets :)

I am thanking the Lord today for
1. sunshine
2. iced tea
3. old friends
4. garbagemen
5. garden plots
6. children's enthusiams
and
7. flowers

Lisa,

Just happened to be commenting on the previous log when this newest one popped up. So I just couldn't leave without commenting here also.

You said,"I am going to plan on that being the last cold snap before spring takes hold." This reminds me of something a mutual friend of ours said to me just end of last week. "I've learned to never plant tomatoes or bell peppers before Easter." I took that as a piece of advise coming from an experienced and successful gardener.

Wow, you have a lot of (odd) things hidden in your kitchen. I've always thought my kitchen was the least junk-filled and most organized. But now I'm going to have to go look, maybe I might drag up some more Tic-Tacs!

Actually the problem area in my kitchen is the walk-in pantry. I have anything from spices to sponges, from light bulbs to laundry detergent, from jars, jugs, and janitorial supplies to juice, from baggies to beans, from appliances to apple cider vinegar. Well, now that I have a partial inventory I should really think about investing in some time to do Operation Junk Free in there.

I am starting. Do you mind if I link to your blog, or should I just put the rules and stuff in my post?

Do you know I have a crazy sister? Just know I was reading this post and Abby said, "Orange Juice Fun Day!" for O.J.F. Day. Crazy . . .

Love it! Okay, you are inspiring us all...if each of us in our family throw away 10 things a day, that is 110 things a day! By the end of the month, the house should be empty! Yea! :) Doesn't sunshine and 70 degree weather make you want to clean?? I'm trying to take advantage of it while we can. Somehow, 110 degree weather doesn't have the same effect...
